EARTH DAY with Author Lindsay H. Metcalf

Award-winning author Lindsay H. Metcalf will be in Council Grove to celebrate EARTH DAY. Join us at the Council Grove Public Library for Story Hour at 10 AM-11 AM. She will be meeting with High School English Classes throughout the day and will be a guest at the first USD 417 YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB meeting, facilitated by Sarah Malcomb.

Metcalf will be at the bookstore from 1:15-2 PM to sign her books.

Metcalf’s newest book FOOTEPRINT: Eunice Newton Foote at the Dawn of Climate Science and Women’s Rights is a creatively told biography/fictional history of a female scientist who discovered the effect of carbon dioxide on our environment years before the man who is recognized as the Father of Climate Science. Did he steal Foote’s idea? Like some stole her patents for a self-regulating stove? Find out more about this amazing female scientist and her intimate connection to history.

Our final BOOKS & BREWS of 2024 features ASHEVILLE NC author and activist Diane Nilan (yes! Diane is tough and will be here in Kansas for this BOOKS & BREWS!). Ms. Nilan's newest book is THE THREE MELISSAS: A Practical Guide to Surviving Family Homelessness.

Ms. Nilan is the President of HEAR US! a non-profit that advocates for children, teens, and families experiencing homelessness. She was responsible for federal legislation that ensured that K-12 public education students are not discriminated against due to their housing situation.
